The next membership meeting of Post 250 will be at 7:00 p.m. March 2, 2010 in the Pickering Center, 7771 Poplar Pike. Our guest speaker will be Legionnaire Virginia Granger. In April 1943, Virginia Granger entered the Army Nurse Corps. She went to Basic Training at Camp McCoy, Wisconsin then served in Army Hospitals at Kilmer, New Jersey, and in England. However, most of her tour was spent on the Hospital Ship “Thistle.” For two years, the “Thistle” shuttled wounded troops from the European Theater back to the United States. After that, the “Thistle” was sent to Manila to evacuate patients from the Island of Layte.
